10th Anniversary of optimax®

On the occasion of our 10th anniversary management decided to show its appreciation for all the hard work and dedication by planning something spectacular.

On Saturday, July 29, 2007, miles away from the daily stress of the office an adventure cruise with a Viking ship on the Thuringia Sea was planned.  Come boarding time our excursion was almost literally dead in the water since it was raining cats and dogs.  As we got onboard the "Red Milan" the crew poured out the welcome "Met" in a bull’s horn, whereupon we heralded the return of the sun with a traditional Viking toast.

After passing by the various camping and beach sites along the Hohenwarte Reservoir, we anchored in a bay and, according to the Viking rites, competed in the ancient disciplines: tug ‘o war, the caber toss (the tossing of a tree trunk) and archery, which was great fun for all of us. Back on board freshly smoked trout along with various salads were served and our thirst was once again quenched with Met, beer and wine.

As night fell we attended a local fireworks display known as The Reservoir in Flames which was for all of us the icing on the cake. Around midnight the party-goers were back on land and started their journey home - happy, relaxed and ready to take on the challenges of a new week.
